As an open platform for the arts, HUs Art believes that art is an important bridge connecting people and cultures. HUs Art is dedicated to connecting the artistic communities of New Zealand and China through exhibitions, residency programmes, academic exchanges, and cross-cultural collaborations, promoting the dissemination of and dialogue around contemporary art, while providing an international platform for cooperation among artists, curators, and cultural institutions.

Based in Aotearoa New Zealand, HUs Art focuses on the development of contemporary art in both New Zealand and China. We continuously promote artistic exchange across diverse cultural contexts, support artists in expanding their creative horizons, and facilitate the presentation and promotion of outstanding artistic works on the international stage.

Wasteland Women's Writing Project II (2026)

Presented with the support of HUs Art.

The second edition of the Wasteland Women's Writing Project continues the programme's commitment to supporting contemporary women writers from China through residency, research, and cultural exchange.

Hosted in Aotearoa New Zealand, the residency offers participating writers the time, space, and freedom to step away from the demands of everyday life and devote themselves to their creative practice. Building upon the foundations established by the inaugural programme in 2025, this second edition places particular emphasis on supporting women writers navigating personal challenges and periods of transition, providing a nurturing and supportive environment in which reflection, exploration, and creative growth can take place.

Through this ongoing initiative, HUs Art seeks to amplify women's voices and foster meaningful connections between literature, place, and contemporary society.

HUs Art Farm

YAF Opening Night

In August 2018, HUs Art hosted ten emerging award winning artists as part of the Young Artists Fellowship (YAF) programme at its Coatesville, Auckland venue.

The programme brought together a new generation of artistic voices from diverse backgrounds, providing opportunities for exhibition, dialogue, and professional exchange. Through presentations, discussions, and public engagement, participating artists shared their practices with audiences while building connections within New Zealand's contemporary art community.

Art can competes with reality, but art will have the last word.
